Food During Band Camp:

Breakfast: Make sure you eat a sufficient breakfast every morning, including whole grain (complex carbohydrates) and protein. Band Camp requires a lot of stamina, so make sure your body is fueled well. One bowl of cheerios or one slice of toast with jam will NOT be enough to carry you through lunch.

Lunch: YOU MUST BRING A LUNCH AND SNACK FROM HOME.

Dinner: For your convenience, the Band Parents provide dinner in the cafeteria every day during band camp. All meals come with a bag of chips, cookies and choice of soda or water. You can order a double-portion on any day for additional cost. Pay for these meals at registration night.

Or, if you prefer you can bring a bagged dinner from home every day.

Readiness checklist for Band Camp and Gunkie Day:

School starts: Monday August 16.

First football game (Pre-season): Friday August 27, Home, Deltona. The Band Calendar will be updated with the new Football schedule soon. At this game, we will be a "pep" band - we will play in the stands only, nothing on the field this week. We will wear our black band polos tucked into long blue jeans, and band shoes. If belts are worn, they must be plain black. No jewelry.

After-school band rehearsals during marching season:

Words to the SHS Alma Mater

Hail to thee our alma mater
Memories dear and true
Light of life and comrades loyal
Always follow through
Lift your voices
Sing your praises
Over hills and dale
Hail to thee our alma mater,
Seminole High all hail.

Band Dues: Band dues are: $200 for returning marchers, $250 for first-time marchers (Gunkies). Make checks payable to SHS BPA.

While band is an optional activity, we want every student to be able to afford to participate. If you have special financial issues, please contact the Board Treasurer-Student Accounts, as soon as possible via email (link to whichever treasurer this is, one two or 3). They will work confidentially with you to make arrangements.
