Action Required!

Hello Band Parents!

I just want to REALLY thank you for all of your dedication and spirit! Last night’s game was a nailbiter, but no one in the stands realized how much the band parents had going on! We are very grateful to everyone who pitched in last night. With Middle School Night, two concessions, two Chick-fil-A stands, Spiritwear, and snow cones in the third quarter, we could have had a disaster. But we have the best parents in the world!!!!!

Now, to the meat of this post. Three very important deadlines are coming up:

1. LONDON TRIP DEPOSIT — this $100 deposit is due on October 1. It is completely refundable, but if we do not receive a deposit we can’t count your child as one who is committed to going on and fundraising for this trip. If the response is great enough, the trip will be a definite “go.” We have already begun fundraising and we will be kicking it up into high gear. So, if you are wanting our band to go to London, please send your check in for $100 BY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1!

2. DESSERT FUNDRAISER – This is our first fundraiser for the year. ALL ORDERS ARE DUE IN THE BAND ROOM BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2. The brochure and order form can be found on the band website under the fundraiser tab. (www.seminolehsband.org)

3. COOK BOOK — This is a new fundraiser. A flier should have come home with your students on Friday — LOOK FOR IT! We are putting together a Pride of the Tribe cookbook which we are thinking about titling “Savoring Seminoles.” This is a great way to raise money, but we need your recipes!! They are due no later than October 9. The flier will be posted on the band website very soon.

Again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Believe it or not, your students thank you, too. Our job is to be invisible, but we really help keep our band going!

BLOG…

Posted in Band Parent's Association on September 23rd, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

First of all – What is a BLOG? By definition it’s a “frequently updated personal journal chronicling links at a Web site, intended for public viewing”. So we hope this is something you can make use of to stay informed and we hope you use it to give your feedback in the form of comments.

Keep the following in mind:

  • This is a moderated site, and as such all comments will be reviewed before being posted.
  • No comments can be posted unless you have a logon. You must have a valid e-mail address to register for a logon.
  • Please keep your comments constructive and appropriate (Enough said!).

Anyway… We want this to be another way we can communicate with you all the things that are going on with the band and the BPA.

Take advantage of the RSS feed if you like receiving them. Click on the RSS icon at the bottom of this page and copy the link into your RSS client.

Enjoy!

UPDATE: Your Help Needed!

Posted in News on September 23rd, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

Good Evening Band Parents!

Band Parent Sandy Lupo, wife of Freedom Fire Protection of Central Florida – President, Fred Lupo is fighting a personal battle with cancer. Sandy is currently in the process of being placed on the national donor list for a bone marrow transplant. Consistent with that placement, a blood donor and donor match day is going to be held on Friday, September 25th in the BankFirst parking lot on the corner of Hwy 46 and Central Park Drive in Sanford. The mobile donation center will be available from 10 AM to 4 PM (Please note the time change.) on that day. Also please ask to be HLA tested. Its the HLA test (not the donation of blood) that gets you on the list to help Sandy and many others. However, you still have to donate blood. The donation of blood covers the cost of the HLA test.

Please stop by and support Sandy and others in central Florida by giving the “gift of life”. This is your opportunity to become a match to help her fight this battle.

Football Game and Middle School Night:

Posted in Upcoming Events on September 23rd, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

Friday September 25th, Home against Mainland.

Middle school night is where the incoming middle school students get the chance to “shadow” the High School kids during a football game. They will be in the stands with our SHS students and join The Pride of the Tribe on the field to play “Land of 1000 Dances.” The middle schools participating in MS Night will be Sanford, Millennium, and Markham Woods. Report time for the Middle Schools is 5:15 pm at the Stadium.

Report time is 4:30pm: Students must wear continuity clothes – white band shirt, black band shorts, black socks (LONG – at least mid-calf length – NOT ankle socks), and dinkles. No jewelry or nail polish, and hair must be tied back. Students will lose 3rd quarter break if continuity rules are broken. If students arrive late to continuity rehearsal, they will NOT march during half time. Students must be in their spot on the field at report time, ANY students late (even by 1 minute) WILL be benched.
