Gold Fundraiser!!!

You make money, the

Band makes money!

7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Tuesday, December 1st

At Seminole HS – in the Auditorium

How it works:

  • Bring all your unwanted gold, silver, and platinum. Doesn’t matter if it is broken or tangled!
  • There is no presentation, no pressure, no obligation.
  • A precious metals expert will appraise each of your items for their precious metals content (karat purity i.e. 10K, 14K, 18K etc.). The value of each item is based on it’s karat purity and weight.
  • If you are satisfied with your appraisal, you will be paid on the spot.
  • Snacks & refreshments will be served.

Can’t Make It? Zip-Loc Baggie It!

Leave your items in a zip-loc baggie with a band member (with your name & Ph #):

  1. Your items are appraised, with your host present.
  2. Your host calls you.
  3. You decide deal-or-no-deal!

Urgent! – UCF Opportunity — This Saturday’s game

Posted in Fundraiser on November 11th, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

Hi Parents,

I just got a call from UCF — they have an emergency and we are going to fill it!  For this Saturday’s football game they need 15-20 “hawkers,” the people who are in the stands selling sodas, etc.  Report time is 9:30 a.m. and we’ll be out around 4:30 p.m.  I know it’s Homecoming dance that evening, but this is a great opportunity!!  Kids can be 14 years old and up, parents are also welcome.  First 20 who respond will get the spots.

Thank you!!!!

UCF Event Thanksgiving Weekend — Sign Up for Time Slots

Posted in Fundraiser on November 9th, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

Hello parents,

I have heard from a number of you regarding working the UCF cheerleading event on Thanksgiving weekend.  I have broken the times into 5-hour blocks, this is the most fair way to break it down.  You can work more than one block if you choose, and your kids can work as long as they are 15.  Whatever block you commit to, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THROUGH!  Otherwise, others will be left to cover and that will make it more difficult to get more events at UCF.

The dress will be black pants and black shoes, we will be provided chef coats to wear over our shirts.

I have the following blocks available:

Friday, November 27th:

  • Block 1 is 6:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Block 2 is 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Block 3 is 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, November 29:

  • Block 4 is 6:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Block 5 is 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

When you respond, please advise what block of time you want to work.  I will confirm the times back to you.  So far, I have the following volunteers.

  • Chris LaBonte and Cheyne Labonte
  • Evelyn Luna and Jonathan
  • Jeff, Hannah, and Gwenn Carter
  • Bill, Deb, and Britta Gorman
  • Joe, Cherie, and Kayla Heckford
  • Lynn, Amy, and Robin Warner.  Lynn, you asked for Friday morning, you are welcome to take Block 1 if that will work for you.

I NEED TO HEAR BACK FROM EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO WORK THIS EVENT!!!  REMEMBER, EACH BLOCK WORKED WILL PUT MONEY INTO YOUR STUDENT’S TRIP ACCOUNT.

Thanks so much for your early response!

Make Money for your Trip Account — any trip!

Posted in Fundraiser on November 5th, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

Hello band parents,

I have an exciting announcement!  Effective immediately, we are making it possible for you to earn money for your kids’ trip account.  This is NOT just for London, but can be applied to any band trip we take.  At this time, it is effective for three things:

1.   Snow Cone work after school — every parent who works snow cones after school will earn $10 that will be put into their student’s trip account.  This will be retroactive — so all you parents who have worked so hard will be rewarded!

2.    UCF events — every parent (and student) who works a UCF event will earn $25 per worker, again put into the student’s trip account.

3.    Cookbooks — our cookbooks will be available in early December.  Every cookbook sold by a student (or their parents, grandparents, etc.), will earn $10 into the student’s trip account.

We are trying to get more things lined up to add to these three opportunities.  So, parents, if you want to start putting money into the trip accounts, sign up!

Please respond to this e-mail and let me know if you are available to work the Snow Cone machine after school (I’m told it’s actually pretty fun!).  The UCF events will be send out as they come out, so watch for them!  And the cookbooks will be available in early December.

Thank you so much!

Snow Cone Machine After School

Posted in Fundraiser on October 19th, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

Parents,

We have an urgent need for the next several weeks (until it really gets cold) for people to help with the snow cone machine after school.  This means arriving at the school a half hour before dismissal and working until 45 minutes to an hour after dismissal.  There are kids (and band directors) who will help, but we really need a couple of parents to step up and help out.  Only need one parent per day, but we do have 5 days in a week.  Please let me know if you can help out.

Thank you sooooooo much!

It’s that time of the year…

Posted in Fundraiser on October 15th, 2009 by Kevin Fletcher

I know it seems too hot, but it’s that time of year and the holidays are quickly approaching.  The Band will be selling many items that will make wonderful holiday gifts for your family and friends.  We will soon have our “Savoring Seminole” cookbooks available for pre-sale.  There are many great recipes donated by our Seminole Band family.  The book will be a great keepsake with lots of band photos included.

Our Spirit Wear also makes wonderful gifts.  You can purchase the Spirit Wear at every home football game and we also have information regarding the Spirit Wear available online (see Fundraisers page).  We now have t-shirts, sweat shirts, hats, visors, shorts, etc.  The letterman jackets are a great gift idea for your student as well (order form available under here).

The band will also be selling portraits of your band students (taken by our awesome photo committee).  The portraits will be available for a $5 donation and come in an acrylic frame.  Seniors will receive their matted photos as a gift from the band.

And don’t forget about our Christmas tree fundraiser!  You can buy a beautiful Christmas tree from the SHS band.  Look for details on the Fundraisers page of the web site.

Happy Shopping!
